Lucien’s First Take: Bloodborne: The Old Hunters

You know what’s awesome?  Bloodborne!  Easily the best game of this year, Sony did something that I’ve always wanted to see.  They made a game that combined Lovecraft style horror and mixed it with the brutal difficulty of the Dark Souls games.  This game is so awesome.  It even had a unique take on Lovecraftian horror that worked so well.  Instead of it being a cult of people who worshipped ancient gods, it is an entire civilization.  that is so brilliant!  With fast-paced and visceral violent action that is brutally difficult, I love this game so damn much.  People can talk all they want about Metal Gear Solid 5 or Fallout 4, but for me, those games are just window dressing to a product that is infinitely better.

When I heard that DLC was coming to this game, I was a little nervous.  After all, was this going to be good?  It could very easily suck.  After all, what could they possibly add to the game?  It is already awesome just the way it is.  Are they going to add some new weapons?  That could be cool.  Some new bosses?  That could also be cool. What could it be?  Wait no longer, people.  They have released a trailer…

Oh my freaking god!  That looks…awesome!  No joke, if only you all could see the giant grin on my face.  This looks amazing!  We’ve got new weapons that look awesome.  A giant saw blade?!  Sign me up!  A giant scythe?!  There!  A whip-blade that isn’t that annoying fucking cane?!  Freakin’ awesome!

But that’s not all!  We’ve got some story additions!  New areas too!  This is DLC done right!  Instead of some stupid skins or what have you, this is giving you all new content!  Loads of it.  Reminds me of the Citadel DLC to Mass Effect 3.  That was the greatest gift I could have gotten, and it came in the form of something for $15.  This is going to be $20, but for what I am seeing here, it’s worth it.  New weapons, new areas to explore, new story content, amazing-looking new bosses!  Hopefully you all are as excited as I am for this installment into the best game of this year.
